Overview
We have designed the data feed process to facilitate automated, easily reproducable extraction, transfer and importing of the data from the participating institutions into the catalog. Toward this end we're asking for a fixed-length-field ASCII text file from each institution. The feed will contain one line for each course that the institution wishes to offer in the catalog. Each feed will supercede all previous data from that institution.

In addition to the Course offerings file feed there is "one-time" information needed from each participating institution, things like the URL for the institution home page, administrative contact information and so forth. Since this information will seldom be changed it shouldn't be necessary to automate transfer of it; before an institution can submit its first courses it'll have to email us the information and we'll populate the catalogue with it by hand. Thereafter it should only need to be resubmitted if it changes. A description of this type of information is available
here.
Course Offerings Feed File

This is a table of the data elements that are in the course offerings feed. Note that many of the entries under the "Element Name" column are links to the Glossary of Terms. If an item has a revision history there will be a link to that under the "Notes" column. Reference number is merely for convenience and may not be in actual numeric order.
