In accordance with Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), students with disabilities have the right to seek access and reasonable accommodations in public-funded academic programs. For a disability to be covered by the protection of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), any impairment must substantially limit one or more major life activities. These are activities that an average person can perform with little or no difficulty, such as: breathing, caring for oneself, hearing, performing manual tasks, learning, seeing, speaking, walking, and working.

The types of services to qualified disabled students at Oregon institutions may include:

  • Pre-admission and pre-enrollment planning
  • Admission and registration assistance
  • Individualized academic advising
  • Resource and referral information
  • Relocation of classes if necessary
  • Assistance in notifying instructors of necessary accommodations
  • Assistance with acquiring textbooks and readings on tape
  • Arrangements for note-taking services
  • Alternative test arrangements

Contact your home institution to find out what services they provide for disabled students.

Web Accessibility: What does "Bobby Approved" mean?

A website is considered "Bobby Approved" if the entire website conforms to both the automated and manual checks outlined by the Bobby tool. Bobby is based on the guidelines for accessibility, which have been created and are maintained by the Web Accessibility Initiative at the World Wide Web Consortium. Accessibility errors are problems on a page that affect its accessibility by people with disabilities. A webpage must pass all Priority 1 issues to obtain Bobby Approval. The OregonONE website is Priority 1 Bobby approved.
